Physiotherapy is not enough for my sciatica

When stretching and rest stall, a guided disc procedure may be the next question, not another month of the same plan.

Physiotherapy is not enough for my sciatica

This article is from Dr. Nitish Mandal, Consultant Pain Physician in Bangalore, with clinics in Koramangala and J.P. Nagar.

When physio still matters

Avoid positions that sharply increase the leg pain, and keep moving in ways that do not provoke the nerve. Back-strengthening is still advised after a disc procedure.

When it is no longer enough

If sitting, travel, and sleep are still ruled by shooting leg pain, the disc may need a clinic procedure. Ozone for sciatica is described as 15 to 20 minutes, with going home in about 30 minutes.

What to expect on timing

Ozone is described as taking 3 to 4 weeks to shrink the disc. Very severe sciatica may have a small steroid dose as the needle comes out, with pain relief described within 1 to 2 days.

I have tried tablets and physiotherapy. What is different here?

Find the source of the pain, then treat that source with a clinic injection, block, or infusion. You are typically able to go home the same day.

Where are the clinics, and do I need an appointment?

Koramangala and J.P. Nagar. Prior appointment is preferred. You can book from this website.
