Frozen shoulder: how long, and what an injection visit is like

Waiting it out can take many months. Hydrodilatation and ultrasound-guided injections are listed when the arm will not lift.

Frozen shoulder: how long, and what an injection visit is like

This article is from Dr. Nitish Mandal, Consultant Pain Physician in Bangalore, with clinics in Koramangala and J.P. Nagar.

How it feels

Night pain, a locked lift, trouble with a seatbelt or combing hair. Tablets and stretching may stall because the capsule is tight, not only because the muscle is weak.

What the visit is like

The shoulder is examined. Ultrasound guides the needle. Hydrodilatation places fluid in the joint to help unstick a tight capsule. It is a clinic visit. Many people go home the same day.

Rotator cuff pain is a different pattern

If you can lift the arm but it still hurts, the tendons may be the source. Ultrasound-guided injections are listed for that as well.

I have tried tablets and physiotherapy. What is different here?

Find the source of the pain, then treat that source with a clinic injection, block, or infusion. You are typically able to go home the same day.

Where are the clinics, and do I need an appointment?

Koramangala and J.P. Nagar. Prior appointment is preferred. You can book from this website.
